Scott Hygnstrom (pronounced Hing-strum) is a Professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist with the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He earned a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, MS from UW-Stevens Point, and a BS from UW-River Falls. He is a Certified Wildlife Biologist with the Wildlife Society.
He is a prolific researcher with over 200 peer-reviewed and peer-edited papers in wildlife, wildlife diseases, and wildlife damage management to his credit. He has served as Chair of The Wildlife Society’s Wildlife Damage Management Working Group and Wildlife Disease Working Group.
He also has been active in Extension providing research-based information to the public. He led the creation of the Internet Center for Wildlife Damage Management (http://icwdm.org) and the eXtension Community of Practice in Wildlife Damage Management (http://www.extension.org/human-wildlife+relations) and is lead editor for Prevention and Control of Wildlife Damage (presently under revision) and co-editor for the National Wildlife Control Training Program.
His hobbies include, hunting, fishing, camping, dog training, reading, and volleyball.
